Lucas Group has partnered with a CPG Manufacturer on their search for a VP of HR. This person will partner with senior leaders and serve as a strategic advisor and driver of talent and culture initiatives to deliver business results. Will include consultation and leadership in the areas of change management, talent & leadership development, succession planning, performance management, employee engagement, diversity & inclusion, organizational design and effectiveness, benefits administration, compensation, employee relations and workforce planning/analytics. This individual will balance strategic direction with implementation and operational excellence.

 

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Coach & develop HR team members
  • Serve as business partner to Executive Leadership Team
  • Coaching, counseling & Support on HR matters
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identify ways to support this mission through talent management and innovative initiatives.
  • Help ensure succession needs are met, offer expert counsel on employee engagement, leadership, training & development in order for the Company to remain well positioned to meet future challenges
  • Research, develop, and implement effective talent management methods, competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs to attract talent and enable company growth
  • Serve as a primary resource in legal compliance for all locations in which the Company operates in the interest of mitigating the Company’s exposure and risk; work with legal counsel in areas of litigation
  • Be a visible, involved and engaged leader to support employees throughout the Company with partnership of the Human Resources Team
  • Promote the Company’s vision and culture by identifying, prioritizing, designing and implementing HR programs and solutions that support employees and business objectives and align the organizational structure and practices
  • Implement and measure the effectiveness of initiatives aimed at supporting the performance, growth, reward, and engagement of all employees
  • Monitor and ensure the Company’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Reinforce and evolve the Company’s existing HR and employment policies ensuring awareness and consistency, in close cooperation with executive leadership and legal counsel

 

Skills Needed:

  • Experience in union and non-union environments preferred but not required
  • California Labor Law
  • Demonstrated success translating business strategies into organizational and HR strategies and actions.
  • Effective negotiating and influencing skills
  • Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to solve complex business problems
  • Proven track record of managing complex HR related projects
  • Ability to motivate and influence the work of others
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills essential
  • Demonstrated experience with large-scale change management initiatives
  • Ability to travel 15%

 

Educational & Work Requirements:

  • Degree:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required
    • Master’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Work Experience:
    • 12+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
    • 5+ years of experience leading teams at an executive level
    • CPG manufacturing industry experience required
