Our client has more than a century of experience in providing safe and reliable transportation to students across the US and Canada. We have partnered with them in their search for a Safety Manager for their St Louis MO location. This opportunity takes an all-important “Safety First” attitude in supporting the company’s community children and families all over North America.

What You Will Do:

Supervise employees with safety and/or driver hiring or training responsibilities (e.g., Location Safety Supervisor, Field Supervisor, Driver Trainers/Instructors).  Supervisory responsibility may range from providing work guidance and leadership to full supervisory duties.

• Administer driver hiring and compliance process (e.g., interviewing and driver selection; collecting applications; criminal background checks; credit reports; drug/alcohol testing; fingerprint checks; DOT physicals; TB Skin tests; motor vehicle records checks; I-9 forms)
• Provide direction and guidance to location trainers; teach classes as required.  
• Investigate incidents, accidents and work-related injuries as necessary.  Determine fault or preventability based on the facts identified at the scene.  Provide post-accident counseling with drivers.
• Schedule and conduct monthly safety meetings; assist/participate in Safety Action Team meetings.
• Provide assistance and training to drivers and attendants on passenger management and other safety related issues.
• Perform driver road checks of driver performance (e.g., pre-trip checks-lot-to-school and back; post-trip checks).

Skills:

• 2 to 3 years transportation, safety or related experience
• Able to acquire a CDL License and Drive Routes (as needed)
• Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues
