Lucas Group is seeking a Product Specialist to join a growing Data team to help build out key products for both internal and external customers. The Product Specialist will work collaboratively with other BI members, IT personnel and outside consultants to meet requirements and established deadlines.


Key Responsibilities:

Works closely with colleagues to understand underlying client data needs, capture new ideas and maintain a prioritized backlog of requirements.

Works cross-functionally with IT teams and consultants to monitor the details needed in engineering, architecture, and infrastructure to successfully push data product initiatives forward.

Gathers user research and inputs across the organization and with external users where appropriate.

Maintains the product backlog, creates user stories, defines an effective vision and coordinates user stakeholder feedback on product development.

Evaluates existing products, including competitor and industry data, to offer suggestions for new or enhanced data products.

Maintains and monitors budgets and timelines for both internal development and external consultant work.

Utilizes experience with project management to coordinate product development – from use case development, contract review, contracting and procurement, marketing, go-live timing.

Prepares clear and concise status reports in the format most appropriate for audience, whether email, PowerPoint or Microsoft Project.

Ensures the successful execution of product launches by monitoring product timelines and development, monitoring QA efforts and assisting in prioritization of bugs and user requests.

Builds awareness for products by preparing appropriate training, marketing and communications.

Effectively supports the product (e.g., bug triage, answering client questions), pulling in the right people as needed.


Required skills:

Undergraduate degree in computer science, data science or related business degree.

1+ years of product management, project management or business analysis experience.

Ability to clearly communicate business needs to technical personnel and technical limitations to business personnel.

Excellent project management, time management and organizational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to multiple priorities.

Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities

Foundational understanding or familiarity with Azure DevOps and Microsoft Project.

HTML, CMS, SQL, Python or PowerBI experience a plus, but not required.
