We are pleased to be representing our 100-year-old billion-dollar client, a leader in their industry, on their search for a Procurement Category Manager in  the Oshkosh, Wisconsin area. Full relocation is provided. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established company that is experiencing tremendous growth year after year - even through a pandemic!

This is a highly visible and strategic role for direct material procurement, responsible for creating and implementing sourcing strategies to support their global manufacturing operations and new product development programs. This position reports to the Director of Procurement Category Management.


  • Identify and communicate the category vision and expectations for performance for suppliers and internal team members
  • Lead cross-functional category team, driving collaborative approach to resolve issues, execute projects, and grow the organization’s category expertise
  • Coach and mentor Buyers to develop their procurement and category-specific abilities and expertise
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities internal processes and systems
  • Build and maintain effective supplier capacity plans to ensure supply demand fluctuates
  • Drive year-over-year improvements in supplier performance, striving for 100% on time delivery and 0 PPM quality performance
  • Regularly visit supplier sites to verify capabilities, audit and build expertise and relationships
  • Optimize costs through negotiation and value engineering during sourcing, utilizing expertise in design, input costs, processes, and competitive options
  • Develop and communicate accurate forecasts of future price change exposure
  • Manage supplier tooling to meet operational, project, and budget needs
  • Lead cost recovery activities when supplier performance failures impart excess costs to Mercury


  • BS/BA in Engineering, Supply Chain or Operations Management, or related field, MBA preferred, CPM or CPIM Certification preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain management, or engineering
  • Advanced skills in supplier management, negotiation, cost and contract management, data analytics
  • Proficient with engineering prints and specifications, APQP, and PPAP processes
  • Occasional day and overnight travel to domestic and international locations, up to 30%
