Our client is a family-owned, established manufacturing company that has had double digit growth the last few years and we are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager for their facility north of the Detroit metro area. Our client has recently tripled their output and has the order volume to double their production in the immediate future.

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for capital projects, new product launches, improving processes, and leading a diversified team of Engineers & Technicians. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will report to the General Manager and will be a part of their executive leadership team. We are searching for a positive, energetic, and hands-on leader that enjoys working on the plant floor to resolve manufacturing issues, lead projects, and motivate & develop their team.

Manufacturing Engineering Manager Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the performance of the manufacturing engineering department.
  • Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support to the production floor.
  • Drive new product introduction processes such as estimation, tool design, process development, budgeting, project management, and product launches.
  • Lead capital projects (mostly increasing automation & new machinery installation) from cradle-to-grave.
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Provide leadership to the team of Design Engineers, Process Technicians, Estimators, and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Leverage data and the ERP system to analyze performance and identify areas for continued improvement.
  • Represent the department and company while interacting with other internal departments, customers, and suppliers.
  • Take part in both site & corporate leadership meetings.
  • Evaluate new projects and product introductions to assess costs, profitability, and prioritization.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and that manufacturing meets defined cost, quality, and delivery expectations.

Manufacturing Engineering Manager Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemistry, Metallurgy, or a related technical field.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO13485 or ISO9000 standards, medical device manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, or similar is highly beneficial.
  • Desire to be a hands-on leader to improve manufacturing processes and provide positive leadership to the Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Must be fully vaccinated or open to receiving vaccination against COVID-19.
