Lucas Group has partnered with our client in on their search for a Maintenance Shift Supervisor.

**Seeking Candidates with a Military Background**

Scope of Responsibilities:

The Position: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all associated duties described below to support the plant goals. The primary purpose is to maintain company assets using best practices to meet safety, quality, environmental and production goals. The MS reports to the Plant Manager, but works closely with the plant Resources, EHS Supervisor, Quality Supervisor, Operations Manager, Shift Supervisors, and engineering. The MS will coordinate, delegate, and follow up on the efforts of the maintenance technicians and contractors to meet the objectives. This is a Salary Exempt role.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an environment where safety comes first by promoting and expecting excellence in safety.
  • Daily safety topics are held, safety incidents are reported, near misses are addressed, and safety work order backlogs are managed.
  • Ensure monthly training of team is 100% every month.
  • Conduct Monthly safety meetings.
  • Monitor safe practices
  • Ensure that inspections are 100% (incentive checklist)
  • Operate area maintenance as a planned and scheduled activity (not reactionary).
  • Maintain and manage the preventative maintenance system
  • Active Shutdown/slowdown planning.
  • Manpower management of both mechanics and contractors.
  • Manage manpower schedule to complete work and keep overtime to a minimum.
  • Manage notification/work order system.
  • Establish daily, weekly, and monthly priorities.
  • Interface with Day resources and Planners to create formulate schedule of future work.
  • Planning should include special safety concerns, tools required, plan for repair to be made, material on site and assignment of manpower
  • Attend daily planning meetings to coordinate work activity with other area resources.
  • Utilize the scheduling tool to communicate schedules and track performance data including schedule loading, schedule compliance, pm compliance, and utilization.
  • Maintain a clean work environment consistent with GMP goals for the plant.
  • Establish and maintain GMP standards for area and team.
  • Monitor job clean-up.
  • Improve reliability, control Costs, and make cost conscious decisions.
  • Weigh repair vs. cost of new.
  • Accountability for maintenance budget
  • Manage capital and non-capital projects as assigned
  • Manage productivity of contractor, technicians, and outside services.
  • Minimize downtime through good planning.
  • Deal with team productivity issues and oversee contractor productivity.
  • Maintain standards of good workmanship
  • Identify high cost and cause of high-cost items, seek alternatives.
  • Work within Root Cause program to investigate and remedy premature and repeat failures
  • Use all available predictive and preventative technology to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Interface with vendors, sister plants and contractors in problem resolution.
  • Manage PM program to prevent failures and keep equipment in excellent working order.
  • Use Lubrication route feedback and oil lab data to prevent failures and improve equipment reliability.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to safely perform the following tasks:

  • Lifting of up to 55 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • Climb a vertical ladder up to 15ft.
  • Climb several flights of stairs, several times a shift.
  • Stand for up to 1 hour without sitting.
  • Bending and twisting motion at the waist and knees.

Preferred Skills:

  • 5 years experience as an industrial maintenance technician.
  • 3 years experience in a maintenance and reliability leadership role
  • Experience and proficiency in a Preventative maintenance program (SAP) preferred but not required
  • Highschool diploma (or Equivalent)
  • College degree Preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in mechanical and electrical trouble shooting
  • All applicants that meet the minimum qualifications require plant management level approval prior to being considered for the role.
