General Manager

Our client full time General Manager to lead the hub sortation operations in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The clients sortation hub operates as a high-volume cross dock sorting cartons and polybags for delivery to local branches. Specifically, the incumbent will:

· Lead and manage operations of our flagship 300k sf sortation hub

· Develop key performance metrics, analyze data and trends, leverage data to make key decisions

· Implement automation, and continuously look to improve efficiencies in the operations

· Work with both internal and external parties and create a feedback loop to drive change and continuous improvement

· Plan, manage and lead high volume, seasonality driven operations

· Instill a culture of safety, quality and delivering performance by creating the appropriate practices, disciplined processes and holding team members accountable

· Achieve and exceed all sort operation performance targets, managing costs, productivity and maintenance efforts

· Lead a staff of 150 - 200 internal employees and an additional 100-200 temporary employees

· Partner with recruiting to hire managers, supervisors, and employees for the hub

· Develop a high performing team by training all employees on new streamlined processes and managing to key performance metrics

· Partner with HR to identify key management training needs

· Reduce turnover, increase engagement, and reduce temporary employee percent by creating a sustainable, safety-first, accountability driven work environment that upholds the clients values

In addition to a robust skill set that includes the ability to work independently, problem solve and communicates effectively, the ideal candidate will possess:

· 5-7 years of management experience in a high-volume automated logistics/3PL environment

· Proven track record of improving key operational sort metrics

· Proven experience in applying LEAN principles to improve operational processes

· Enjoys driving continuous improvement in all aspects of operation and continuously looks for opportunities to improve

· Experience with extensive high-speed automation including maintenance and optimization

· Experience in planning and executing to ensure metrics are achieved and/or exceeded, specific proven experience in ramp plans for annual peak holiday season

· Proven ability to work with data for evaluating operational performance and diagnosing quality and operational issues

· Effective at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines

· Experience with hiring, training, motivating, disciplining, and holding employees accountable for performance

· Proven track record of implementing quality and safety improvements at a fulfillment center and creating a culture of safety first

· Hands on style, go-see-for-yourself approach and leads by example

· Proven ability to lead, train and manage others

· Strong computer skills, with emphasis on MS Excel

· Ideally has experience in Industrial or Operations Engineering (has done at least some of the aspects already

Experience and Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering

· Proficiency in business office computing, logistics and mapping applications

· Preferred experience in ergonomics, safety and training
