Lucas Group is hiring for an immediate opening for a Plant General Manager in the Springfield, OH area.

Position Summary:

The GM/Plant Manager is responsible for general supervision of all phases of factory & foundry operations including: production, quality, maintenance, purchasing and achievement of production standards. Key operations include casting, grinding, powder coating, sanding, CNC-machining and finishing to achieve high quality functional and cosmetic requirement. Responsibilities also include recruiting, hiring and training personnel and facility/physical plant up-keep and capital improvements. In addition, the Plant Manager will be responsible for annual budget planning and execution and will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and quality within the manufacturing operation.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility
  • Drive quality and productivity improvement initiatives by developing new methods, technologies or materials that are tested, documented and approved by customers
  • Develop and execute the production plan through all phases of the supply chain
  • Develop and manage capital projects from planning and budgeting through implementing
  • Review production schedules to insure production targets are met
  • Manage production to ensure expected quality standards for piano plates are consistently achieved
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel
  • Work closely with Safety Manager to ensure regulatory compliance and all are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all operations employees
  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement/lean manufacturing environment where problems are analyzed to identify core issues and are resolved in a timely manner
  • Work with purchasing manager to manage raw, WIP and finished goods inventory management and develop a systematic purchasing process
  • Build, develop and cultivate strong relationships with customers, peers and management at U.S. and international factories   
  • Develop strong working relationship with our union workforce force and negotiate union contracts as needed


Qualifications, education and experience:
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience; Must be an operational generalist with a solid foundation in: systems/logistics / planning, expense and capital planning /budgeting, team and individual employee development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical or Engineering field
  • Strategic and situational leadership skills with exposure to different operating environments
  • Formal experience with lean manufacturing with an emphasis on quality
  • Successful track record of planning and executing small and large capital projects
  • Experience building consensus and leading and engaging teams to achieve business goals and operational priorities
  • Team-oriented leader with strong communication skills; Must have exceptional skills in articulating plans, expectations and other pertinent information before various constituencies (e.g. employees, suppliers, customers)
  • Strong customer focus
  • Project management experience in quality and process/methods improvement
  • Experience leading a factory safety environment that promotes compliance, housekeeping and genuine concern for employee safety at all levels
  • Experience working within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Has firm understanding of industrial manufacturing facility and general equipment requirements
