Contract Manufacturing Sales Representative SUMMARY: The Contract Manufacturing Sales Rep is responsible for the preparation of quotations and coordination of technical support when required. He/She will also be required to support project work and price negotiation, identify and articulate customer requirements in conjunction with the customer as well as support management and technical staff regarding product cost capabilities and shipping times. Contract Manufacturing Sales should have an excellent understanding of manufacturing practices, opportunities and limitations, as well as proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprint specifications. He/She will demonstrate an eagerness to maintain effective relationships with customers to discuss proposed quotes, details and timelines. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Contract Manufacturing Sales must demonstrate competence in the following areas. 

  • Estimates/quotes from customer prints or reverse engineering. 

  • Carefully determines customer requirements on Request for Quotation (RFQs), drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and bills of material. 

  • Reads and interprets drawings, both proprietary and customer supplied. 

  • Works with customers to provide quotations for requested jobs in a timely manner. 

  • Forwards technical support issues to appropriate team. 

  • Provides pricing of repair parts when needed. 

  • Works with supply vendors. 

  • Performs project management of work orders. 

  • Provides status of all projects to President/CEO. 

  • Assist with reviewing of parts. 

  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives including but not limited to Lean. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the President/CEO. 

EDUCATION/JOB EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

  • A minimum of 3 years’ prior experience estimating/quoting in a machine/fabrication shop environment or a strong machining, welding or fabricating background required. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. 

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

  • Proficient in ERP software (Epicor preferred), Auto-Cad and current PC-based software such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook, where applicable. 

  • Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines.
