Title: Benefits Analyst

Location: Chicago, IL

Reports to: Sr. Manager, Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: $75k-$83k base + 5% bonus

Role Overview: Under general supervision, responsible for the day to day administration and maintenance of benefit programs in accordance with established policies and procedures. Supports all benefits initiatives including routine data analyses, annual enrollment planning, and document maintenance. Participates in third party surveys and analyzes benchmark data. Serves as lead to ensure routine maintenance of department technologies and websites. Assists in designing and implementing new programs. Supports salary planning and other compensation initiatives as needed.


  • Manages the administration of the company’s US benefit plans and programs in accordance with plan documents, insurance contracts, vendor agreements, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Provides input into the design of new programs; develops associated policy and procedures documentation and other supporting communications
  • Project manager for the annual enrollment process to include coordination with TPA, vendors, and development of written communications and scheduling of employee information sessions
  • Manage administrative processes related to 401k and pension plans
  • Prepares data/reports for Health & Welfare and DC and DB plan audits, non-discrimination testing, and 5500 submission
  • Responsible for vendor management. Establishes and maintains an effective relationship with benefit plan carriers to ensure performance is maintained or exceeded
  • Completes third party benefit survey submissions
  • Drafts updated Summary Plan Descriptions as needed
  • Coordinates communication of benefits information to human resources, managers, and employees
  • Generates routine audit reports and analyzes data to ensure compliance with applicable policies. Compiles recommendations and submits to the manager
  • Designs and maintains benefit dashboards. Assists in completing a variety of benefit data analyses, program usage, and effectiveness reviews
  • May participate in the compilation of due diligence data in support of merger and acquisition initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (in Human Resources or Business Management preferred) and a minimum of 2 years relevant Human Resources work experience required
  • Requires 2-3 year’s prior benefit analytics and support experience
  • Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations regarding benefits and other Human Resources regulations a plus
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required; experience with HRIS technology platforms (ADP preferred)
  • Requires strong mathematical, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills; must be highly detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal skills are essential; must possess the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
  • Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; requires approachable, responsive, results-oriented and proactive personal traits
  • Requires strong organizational, project and time management skills
